How to write a good article
On the afternoon of August 11, 2018, I was honored to be invited to participate in the Internet celebrity preparatory course achievement exhibition hosted by PIXNET [Community Xin Academy] (http://pixseedacademy.pixnet.net/blog). In addition to being with my friend [Li Quanxing] (https:/ /www.facebook.com/bestguy) (Lao Cha), [Zhou Yuru] (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1804258191) (Amy) were on the same stage, and I also met many outstanding bloggers.
The organizer wanted me to share more practical experience, so I gave a short speech on the topic “How to write a good article” (https://www.content.tw/writing/speech-reflection), hoping to bring you some new inspiration.
When it comes to how to write a good article that can attract attention and be sound, Xiao Zhong really has a lot of profound knowledge. This is really not a topic that can be discussed in one afternoon, but in front of a group of serious blogger friends in the audience, I still try my best to share my past writing experience with everyone.
Generate your own article rhythm
At the beginning, I will encourage everyone by quoting the words of the famous Japanese writer Haruki Murakami:
Write freely what you feel and what comes to mind…
Recalling the past, I taught Copywriting or [Content Marketing](http s://www.contenthacker.today/search?q=%E5%85%A7%E5%AE%B9%E8%A1%8C%E9%8A%B7) course experience, I often find that many students face the dilemma of not knowing how to write or having no inspiration. Beginners will inevitably encounter similar problems, so don’t be too anxious; at this time, you might as well clarify the point of view you want to express, and then try to write down all your thoughts first. As the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami said, you might as well write down all the things you think about in a notebook, or write them into sticky notes, and then review them one by one, and then slowly converge, edit and modify them.
Unless it is literary creation, general writing is not as difficult as everyone imagines. As long as we read more, think more, and practice writing frequently, we will naturally develop our own touch after writing for a long time, and then, as Haruki Murakami said, “generate our own writing rhythm.”
Although in my speech that day, I shared with you that it usually only takes more than 20 minutes to complete the illustration, writing, editing, formatting and submission of an article; but here I would like to add that speed is not the focus of my pursuit. The real key is my writing [rhythm] (https://www.vistacheng.com/2020/04/slow-down-a-second.html), and the experience and feeling I want to bring to my readers between the lines.
The writing thinking that bloggers should have
Developing content power is an issue that bloggers must learn without delay. Before starting to write an article, we need to think about many aspects, such as readers (target audience), opinions, meaning, value, inspiration, etc., so I suggest that you don’t rush to chase hot topics or be busy writing. You might as well let yourself settle first, think about what angle you can approach, and then write a good article with a unique perspective or value proposition.
There are already too many Me Too type articles on the Internet. We should not just blindly pursue traffic or advertising revenue, but we should think about how to convey specific views and information through articles? And then have a close connection and interaction with readers. This is the real value that we, as bloggers, bring to the world.
Four questions and five key points about writing
In this fragmented era of information explosion, everyone’s attention is an extremely rare currency, so if you want to attract the attention of your target audience, you must focus on strategies and methods. I often remind students in copywriting class that after writing an article, don’t rush to publish it. You should first think about the following four questions:
- What is this article about?
- What is the importance of this article?
- Why should I care?
- Why should I read now?
I suggest that you keep these four points in mind, or if you like, you can copy them in your notebook. Every time you write an article in the future, you might as well check yourself first.
In addition to the above four tips, I have also compiled five key points that you need to pay attention to when writing to share with you, namely:
- For a good article, the number of words is not the key. The key is that it is simple, easy to understand, direct and powerful.
- A good article must be able to arouse readers’ curiosity or interest.
- A good article should be able to clearly show the specific benefits and benefits.
- A good article should avoid confusing the focus or causing misunderstandings among readers.
- A good article must be both rational and emotional in order to be seen by more people.
If you want to write an article well, you need to pay attention to a lot of details. It is not only enough to have good writing skills, but it is also best to understand search engine optimization (SEO), online marketing, user experience and consumer behavior, etc. If you want to know more about article writing and content marketing, you are also welcome to read my publication “[Slow Reading to Understand in Seconds: Vista’s Digital Good Copywriting Analysis Time] (https://www.books.com.tw/products/0010794093?u tm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201808)”, which has a more complete explanation and case analysis.
In addition, if you want to learn about the know-how of content production, content strategy and community management, you are also welcome to purchase my online course “[Content Power: The Super Power of Building Brands] (https://hahow.in/cr/content-power)”.
I often feel that writing ability is not an innate gift, but a skill that can be developed. If you also want to write well, don’t just envy others! Now, let’s work hard together!
