Simple writing: write whatever comes to mind
Previously, a friend shared an article with me “[The era of micro-writing Yang Xiaojing suggests starting simple](https://tw.news.yahoo.com/%E5%BE%AE%E6%9B%B8%E5%AF%AB%E6%99%82%E4%BB%A3-%E6%A5%8A%E6%9B%89%E8%8F%81%E5% BB%BA%E8%AD%B0%E5%BE%9E-%E7%B0%A1%E5%96%AE-%E9%96%8B%E5%A7%8B-080716627.html)”, the main idea of this article is that a publishing house invited Yang Xiaojing, a Chinese language teacher at National Chengchi University, to share the concept and method of micro-writing. Teacher Yang gave a special presentation on “Chinese Language Power x Composition Power” at the Taipei Book Fair, encouraging everyone to be brave in creation and breaking the myth that “writing can only be done by writers.”
I read this article and was particularly touched. In the past few years, I have taught in many companies and universities, and I have met all kinds of young people. Some people really like writing but can’t get into it, but there are also many people who actually hate or are afraid of writing but have to contact it because of their work.
Writing is a process of thinking
I agree with Teacher Yang very much. Writing is actually a thinking process. If you want to write an article well, you only need to master one principle, which is simple and not complicated.
Many people think that in order to write a powerful article, they must quote scriptures or use many gorgeous words. In fact, this is wrong. A good article should allow readers to quickly understand the ideas and ideas. Smooth writing is the basic requirement. As for creativity and inspiration, those are just extra points.
I still remember that in my previous book club, I also shared the basic concept of writing with the guests: the real focus is not “how to write”, but “no matter what, just write.”
Recently, I have been practicing writing with my partners who participated in the “Vista Writing Companion Program”. Some of them have started to hand in their second assignments, which also allows me to see their progress and growth. In fact, writing is not as difficult as everyone thinks. Just write down what you are thinking in your head (https://www.vistacheng.com/2021/07/guide-to-write-a-diary.html) and organize it.
Haruki Murakami’s Views on Writing
The well-known Japanese writer Haruki Murakami also once said: “It is better to abandon the established concept that novels are this kind of thing and literature is this, and just write what you feel and what comes to your mind as you please and freely it will be fine!”
