Reading does not have to stick to formality

To put it bluntly, I used to be a good boy. I was always used to listening to adults and obeying the decisions they made for us. But once upon a time, maybe it was only after my horizons were gradually opened that I could truly realize that life does not need to stick to forms or be tied down by anything external.

Think about it, the same is true for reading. Everyone has their own preferred way of reading. Some people need to read in a space without interference, while others like to read casually on the sofa at home, or even read happily while sipping coffee and eating popcorn.

Although, when we were young, we were all taught to sit upright and sit at the table to read, and we must have a “reading look”. But I always believe that reading is a private matter. As long as it does not affect others, it doesn’t matter how you like to read.

举个例子,很多人喜欢在书本上画线或是做笔记,觉得这样才能吸收知识的精华,但我的书却连折页也没有,永远干净得像是新书似的⋯⋯

When I read, I am also used to having a ritual that makes me feel comfortable and at ease. The same is true for writing.

Now, no matter where I am, whether I am in a coffee shop, a convenience store or a corner of the library, I can open the book or e-book reader I carry with me and quickly enter the world of the book. And as long as I open the MacBook Pro, I can also block external interference and start writing immediately, as naturally and easily as turning on a faucet.

In addition to not relying on inspiration, I am more likely to find a comfortable rhythm and rhythm through constant accumulation.

How to read Japanese writers

I still remember that on January 17, 2015, I went to visit Junkudang Bookstore. At that time, I happened to find a book about “[The Technique of Reading Books]” (https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E8%AA%AD%E6%9B%B8%E3%81%AE%E6%8 A%80%E6%B3%95-%E8%AA%B0%E3%81%A7%E3%82%82%E6%9C%AC%E7%89%A9%E3%81%AE%E7%9F%A5%E8%AD%98%E3%81%8C%E8 %BA%AB%E3%81%AB%E3%81%A4%E3%81%8F%E7%86%9F%E8%AA%AD%E8%A1%93%E3%83%BB%E9%80%9F%E8%AA%AD%E8%A1%93%E I was deeply impressed by the books written by The Japanese author Yu Sato talked about his reading method. I think it is very suitable for reference by some friends who are preparing for exams. He divided basic reading into speed reading (5 minutes), thorough reading (30 minutes), and finally 5 minutes of summary and integration.

I found it very interesting to see that this Japanese author Yu Sato has developed the “one chapter a day” reading model into a ritual, and I have to imitate and learn from it.

The model mentioned in the book may be suitable for friends who must read books every day but have limited time at their disposal. I believe that after trying this pattern several times and then adjusting your reading rhythm, you should be able to effectively control your own reading context and progress.

The importance of reading rituals

Maybe when you read this, you will feel a little confused: Isn’t it just reading? Is there any specific reading ritual required?

In fact, it is really important to have your own rituals, because doing so can help calm your mood and regulate your daily routine. Paul, the author of the American bestseller “Helping Every Child Succeed”. Paul Tough once mentioned that students must create a comfortable and safe environment before students will be willing to learn.

The famous Japanese writer Haruki Murakami also said: “Ritual is an important thing.”

And German psychologist Lorellis. Lorelies Singerhoff believes that in our society, regularly repeated and symbolic social activities are actually “rituals”.

Hey, do you have your own reading ritual? If you haven’t yet, don’t worry. You might as well take the time to give it a try and choose a rhythm and method you like to date with books!

Establishing your own reading ritual may not necessarily help you read books faster or score 100% on exams! But the power conveyed through the ritual can make people feel happy and at ease when reading. When you can read a book calmly and calmly, I believe it will be easier to enter the world created by the author…

Sense of Ritual is as eternal as a diamond. When we are tired of some trivial things one day, when we see it, we will recall those good times in our lives.
