Reading experience of "Starting a Business from Zero: How to Turn Experience and Knowledge into Gold": Combine unique experience and resources to create a business with a knowledge gap
In recent years, the entrepreneurial trend in Taiwan has continued, so many books on entrepreneurship have been introduced to the publishing market. As a media person who has been involved in entrepreneurship, although I dare not say that I understand entrepreneurship very well, I have indeed seen countless new startup teams in my past work experience. In recent years, I have also helped write [recommendations] (https://www.contenthacker.today/2018/04/make-elephants-fly.html) for some related books.
One of the books impressed me deeply, and that is “Starting a Business from Zero: How to Turn Experience and Knowledge into Gold” (https://www.books.com.tw/products/0010744548?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201903) written by two Japanese business management consultants, Yoshie Masaru and Kitano Tetsumasa. Although this book was introduced to Taiwan as early as February 2017, I am still used to putting it on my desk and reading it from time to time.
Many people mistakenly think that starting a business means developing powerful products, or even preparing a lot of funds or having a lot of connections. However, the two authors told us: “Start-up method from scratch” is a low-cost, low-risk, background-free and achievement-free method. It can be said to be a method of starting a business or choosing a side job from scratch.
It is not difficult to understand from the background of the two authors of this book that this book is a very down-to-earth practical book. The book does not talk too much about big principles. Instead, it uses many real cases to supplement the evidence, guiding readers step by step on the road to entrepreneurship.
In my previous “Vista Book Club”, I also shared with you the “starting a business from scratch” mentioned by the two authors Masaru Yoshie and Tetsumasa Kitano. In fact, it encourages everyone to find out the origin of their “knowledge gap business” before starting a business plan. In other words, it is to turn your unique knowledge and experience into “income”, and use the slight gap in knowledge with ordinary people as the seeds for running a business. Start something from nothing and develop a successful business.
The book mentions many interesting cases, such as Mr. Y who runs a squid fishing business, which proves the feasibility of “starting a business from scratch”. Focusing on his hobby of “squid fishing”, he compiled and collected the sure-fire tips on how to catch squid successfully and made it into a teaching material for sale online. Because it is very popular among beginners, it has become a popular product with sales of more than 8 million yen. After that, Mr. Y started marketing peripheral products to customers who purchased textbooks, and successfully expanded his business scale.
This case gave me a lot of inspiration. I never thought that a “squid fishing” teaching material could be released before! Maybe, I can also publish some tips in different fields in the future!
Highly profitable job, which allows sufficient time to provide services to each customer, thus improving the quality of goods and services and increasing customer satisfaction. In this way, the business of repeat customers will increase, and the number of people who hear the news or introduce each other to each other will also increase day by day. Once you enter this virtuous cycle, every day’s work will be very enjoyable and all efforts will become full of value.
In addition to the “squid fishing” case, the two authors also share many interesting cases in this book. For example, accountant Mr. Kuriyama Ryuji gave up the position of “universal accountant” and decided to invest in the baking industry and became a specialized accounting consultant in the baking industry. It is really not easy! Mr. Kuriyama understands the target groups and also considers “providing marketing strategies for popular bakeries” and “improving store management” as part of his business, which is indeed a great approach.
Whether it is Mr. Y or Mr. Kuriyama, these successful entrepreneurs in the book have one thing in common, that is, they clearly know their strengths and can successfully turn this knowledge and experience into “gold”.
Finally, the two authors did not hesitate to share with you four ways to attract customers, which I also found very useful. Friends who are interested can refer to the following chart:
