Today, I saw a report in United Daily News “Poll/More than 40% of respondents I didn’t read a book for the whole last year”: According to the “Vision Project” public reading behavior The survey found that even if paper and digital reading were included, as well as comics and magazines, as many as 21% of the people surveyed did not read at all last year. If the reading was further restricted to books, nearly 41% of the people did not read a book last year, which is equivalent to two out of five people who “did not read” for the entire year.

If this data is true, it’s really scary to think about it! For someone like me who loves reading, let alone “not reading a book for a whole year”, it would be difficult for me to “not touch a book for a day”!

Reading habits reveal your age

Well, not reading books is sad, but there is another thing that is equally unspeakable, and that is age. But, do you believe it? Your reading habits may have betrayed yourself unintentionally, or even secretly revealed the secret of your age!

On BuzzFeed’s book channel, there is an article titled “We Know How Old You Are Based On Your Reading Habits” article, the author claims that as long as readers answer a few questions truthfully, they can estimate their actual age.

These questions are simple enough to answer with almost no thought.

Take me out, ask me out the old-school way, and after I reject you twice, I’ll nod the third time. Don’t knock me on MSN, don’t leave messages on Facebook, and don’t use WhatsApp to ask me if I’m free later. We are going for a walk, a long, long way. It was only on walks that we really talked, old-school talk. We know how to be cunning because we love each other tonight, old school.

For example, do you like to read physical books or e-books? Where do you get your book recommendations? Was it through a bookstore, recommendation from friends or teachers? Or did you learn about it from the book club community? How often do you read? Also, how many books can you read on average in a month?

It can be seen that this is not a very rigorous survey, but the design of the questions is very interesting. From the process of answering, I once again discovered that I am an out-and-out old-school bookworm. I like the warmth of burning paper and the faint scent of ink in the pages…

You’re definitely a seasoned reader! Not only have you perfectly incorporated reading into your lifestyle, your reading habits are beautifully varied. Also, you’re a known sage in your circle of readers for giving the best book recommendations.

Old-school reading sentiment

This also reminds me of the well-known female writer [Li Weijing] who passed away on November 13, 2018 (https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9D%8E%E7%B6%AD%E8%8F%81). The poem she left us with the same name as the book “[The Necessity of Old-School Dating]” (https://www.book s.com.tw/exep/assp.php/vista/products/0010557339?utm_source=vista&utm_medium=ap-books&utm_content=recommend&utm_campaign=ap-201903)》. What an old-fashioned date, I love it so much.

Although I usually dabble in a lot of e-books, I prefer physical books; swiping on a mobile phone is not cool enough, so I prefer old-school reading.

Well, respect the old school!
