Lin Wenjie’s New Consciousness Marketing Course 2
Everyone thinks they are right
“I’m right and you’re wrong.”
When you read this sentence, your first thought is that you are not like this, or at least not like this most of the time. Most of the time, you are a person who can analyze rationally based on facts and situations?
In short, what do you think is that there may be many such people in the world, except yourself?
In fact, almost everyone thinks this way, everyone just like you.
Basically, our need to maintain our own sense of self is very strong, and this sense of self first involves looking at ourselves separately from others, and then starting to compare. In order to make our daily lives go smoothly, we will assume that we are right and have our own set of behaviors, beliefs, and values, and unconsciously and automatically think that we are right.
Therefore, the subtext in our hearts is “I am right, and you are wrong.” This is the essential reason for all relationship conflicts in our lives. If you can realize that the thoughts and thinking generated based on your narrow life experience, limited knowledge, fragments of information, and a large number of biased views are actually very likely to be wrong, then you can keep an open mind, understand others, and see the facts and the real world.
How does marketing use this psychology?
On the other hand, as a marketer, you should take advantage of this to strengthen consumers’ belief that they are right.
When consumers see your product or service, they may have the idea of purchasing it. At this time, they see news reports that the company’s performance is good, they see other people giving five-star reviews, and they see famous people using it… These will strengthen consumers’ belief that their judgment is correct, so they press the purchase button with confidence. Just like in our daily life, we will pay special attention to information that is consistent with our ideas, and will tend to ignore information that is different from our ideas.
As a friend, I hope you see the real world and understand that you are probably wrong. As a marketer, I will bring out a lot of information to tell you, “Yes, you are right.”
