"Vista's Little Voice": How a novice can embark on the road of video creation

Time flies, the first week of 2022 has passed! Have you set a new goal for the New Year and started following the plan? Or, what interesting things have you done?
This week means a lot to me. Because before I knew it, I had actually recorded several episodes of the program “Vista’s Little Voice”, and I finally embarked on the journey of audio and video creation.
In today’s program, I want to talk to you about some of my experiences when I started trying to record audio and video programs. If you are like me and are curious about the rich and diverse world of audio and video, you are welcome to join the creation of audio and video content!
Many friends know that I am a lecturer who specializes in [copywriting] (https://www.writing.cool), so I am very accustomed to using words to communicate and express, and I consider myself good at using words to tell stories. But I always want to step out of my comfort zone, try more image thinking and invest in the production of audio and video content. Therefore, in 2021, I collaborated with my friends to launch the podcast program “[V LAB Marketing Institute] (https://vlab-marketing.firstory.io)”. Unfortunately, due to the intensification of the epidemic, it was temporarily suspended after recording the first season.
On my birthday this year, I finally mustered up the courage to embark on the road of video creation again, and I have been recording for a week at a stretch. For me, who has always been accustomed to pursuing perfection in the past, investing in audio and video content production this time can be considered a big change!
If I had followed my previous thinking pattern, I would have first spent a lot of time on theme planning and script writing, and then invested a lot of money on purchasing the equipment needed for video and audio recording, and spent time making the video thumbnails beautiful and adding a beautiful title sequence…
Well, these processes are certainly important, but for novices, they may not be the most critical and immediate things to do! There is a saying: “If you are tempted, take action immediately!” Instead of spending too much time and energy on early preparations and planning, now I pay more attention to actually doing it!
There are many [tutorials] on how to become a successful [YouTuber](https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/How to become a youtuber) or Podcaster(https://www.4aeo.com/515/10tips-to-increase-youtube-subs-views/) on the Internet. Interested friends can search for them by themselves. However, based on my superficial experience in running the program “Vista’s Little Voice”, if a newbie wants to start investing in the creation of audio and video content, I think they only need to pay attention to the following things first:
- Program positioning and planning
- Establish work processes
- Produce eye-catching content
- Fixed output frequency
In other words, for newbies who are just getting started, I suggest that you don’t spend too much time researching equipment and pursuing perfect content quality at the beginning, but start taking action after simple conception and planning! One day, when you are already familiar with production of audio and video content, it will not be too late to go back and improve the quality of the program.
For example, I was originally thinking about whether to record the title sequence for the program “Vista’s Little Voice”, but I found that just finding the right music might take a lot of time… Later, I decided not to care about the title sequence or the soundtrack. It was obviously more important to try to make the audio-visual content good first!
Additionally, it’s important to establish a workflow that feels comfortable to you. Because of my busy work schedule, I, like Oikawa Yukihisa, the author of “[Japanese Top Knowledge YouTuber Information Compilation Technique]” (https://bit.ly/3zIVQD9), will try to ask myself to get it done in one go to avoid having to do it over and over again. After this week, I found that I could record about 20 minutes of video content in about an hour, and successfully put it on the YouTube channel and podcast platform.
In addition, due to limited time and the pursuit of efficiency, I cannot spend too much energy on preparations beforehand. I usually just conceive the outline and direction of a theme in my mind, and then start recording audio and video content. Therefore, I do not write a verbatim draft before recording. Instead, I wait until the video content is uploaded to the relevant platform before I start writing a relatively complete blog article.
In the past, I may have been a perfectionist, but now I adhere to the philosophy of “finish first, then perfect”, which has benefited me a lot. Here, I also encourage each other with everyone!
