Happy Valentine's Day: On the way to waiting for love, take good care of your own heart first

On Valentine’s Day, the air in the city is always a little different.

It’s not because the roses suddenly became fragrant, nor because the street lamps were gentler, but because everyone seemed to be reminded once: Ah, it turns out that being cared about can be celebrated. So the flower shop is busy, the restaurant is busy, everyone is busy, even people who are usually very calm will look at their mobile phones one more time today, or think for one second more: “How would it feel if someone remembered me?”

Valentine’s Day is not just for lovers. It is more like a light of reminder: a reminder to cherish, express and acknowledge.

In fact, I have always felt that Valentine’s Day is not just for lovers. It is more like a reminder lamp: reminding you to cherish, express and admit - admit that you are not made of steel, and you also need to be understood; admit that you are not a robot, and you will also want someone to accompany you on some nights; admit that no matter how capable you are, you will still hope that someone will say to you: “Thank you for your hard work.”

Sometimes, I envy those who can naturally say “we” today. That “we” is like a stable existence, like a chair that you can go back to, like a bowl of soup that never gets cold. But I also know that being able to reach that “us” is never about luck. It requires two people who are willing to be honest, willing to work together, and willing to reach out to each other when the other person is most imperfect.

I think this is what I am looking forward to next Valentine’s Day

I look forward to next Valentine’s Day. I don’t just wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day, but I can say that more specifically: I am also happy. Maybe that happiness doesn’t have to be perfect or as romantic as the movie, but it is real - real enough that in this busy world, I have someone I can hold hands with, or at least sit side by side, watch a movie quietly, and then lean on each other, and feel that today is a good day.

I look forward to the next Valentine’s Day, when the person I meet is not there to fill my loneliness, but to live with me deeper, more stable, and brighter. He is a person who is willing to listen to me talk about small things that may seem trivial but are actually very important. He is also a person who I am willing to respond to with patience, consideration, and sincerity. I hope we don’t have to rush to prove anything, but just slowly confirm: It turns out that with you, I can be more like myself.

The person I look forward to meeting is not to fill my loneliness, but to live my life with me in a deeper, more stable and brighter way.

And before that day comes, I also want to live today like a blessing to myself.

I wish all my friends who don’t have a lover can take good care of their hearts; I wish we will not deny ourselves because of someone’s absence; I wish we are still willing to believe that love is not a scarce commodity, it is just on the road and coming towards us. I hope that while we are waiting, we can continue to grow, shine and be gentle, making ourselves a better person more worthy of being loved - and a person who knows how to love better.

So, happy Valentine’s Day to everyone.
