Business writing is a form of targeted writing designed to facilitate clear communication between businesses, organizations and their customers, thereby producing desirable business results.
I still remember that on December 19, 2020, I was the founder of the “[Doodle! Use visual notes to turn your life around] (https://www.facebook.com/groups/445273366217320)” Invited by Qiu Yilin, he went to the [First Visual Notes Annual Conference] (https://www.facebook.com/events/3605628349505910) to give a keynote speech titled “Three Ways to Write about Business Power”.
Previously, I also shared part of my briefing with you. Today, I would like to add some of my views on business writing to you.
In fact, the benefits of writing about business capabilities are obvious. To put it simply, it means conveying your concept to others through the power of words, so that others are willing to pay you or be willing to take specific actions in accordance with your call.

So, how to write business power? I have the following suggestions:
- Find the right writing instrument
- Produce valuable content
- Cultivate note-taking skills and action skills
- Create everlasting content
Today, with the rapid advancement of technology, we already have a lot of digital tools that can capture [inspiration] in our minds (https://www.note-taking.club/2018/10/memo-writing-techniques.html). Even if we don’t go out with a computer or mobile phone, at least we can still write down our ideas or drafts on paper. Therefore, the first suggestion about “writing for business power” is that I suggest that you find a writing and recording tool that suits you as soon as possible.
Whether you prefer to use Evernote, OneNote or Notion, I think it’s great. Don’t spend too much effort trying new things, but find the methods and tools you’re used to as soon as possible, and then start focusing on developing content.

Take myself as an example. I used to be very accustomed to using Evernote to take notes. Later, I gradually started to like to use Ulysses and Roam Research to record, and at the same time, I used Notion to control my life operating system.
Just find a way that is easy to get started. I encourage everyone to focus more on content production instead of sticking to form. This is my second suggestion: It is not enough to just write or make records, we should try to make these contents more valuable!
“Writing is a skill,” says Blackburn, “and skills improve with practice.” Garner suggests reading well-written material every day, and being attentive to word choice, sentence structure, and flow.

But for me, these notes still need to be preserved, and through regular review and repeated writing, they can continue to bring value!

But I have to remind everyone that just writing notes is not enough. Regular review and review are also needed. Only by taking action can you achieve success!
The fourth suggestion is to create everlasting production content. Maybe some friends don’t know yet, what is evergreen content? Simply put, it is search engine optimized (SEO) content.
Writing is the primary way business gets done in today’s collaborative world. When it’s done well, business gets done well. Well-written proposals lead to more revenue; clearly written memos and reports lead to deeper insights; clever marketing materials boost marketplace reputation.
The topics of these contents are continuously relevant and will not easily become invalid over time. Most information may only have a shelf life of a few days. Just like the news about Biden being elected President of the United States or the issuance of triple stimulus coupons, no one may care about it after a few days. But evergreen content is so meaningful that it stays relevant once it’s published and continues to guide customers as search volume increases.
The key to success in creating evergreen content is to find ways to make the content more valuable and influential. In this way, it is possible to be favored by search engines and obtain better search rankings. At the event on December 19, a guest asked me: “Is it difficult to write about business capabilities?”
I think nothing can be done quickly, and writing is no different. Although it is not easy to achieve it overnight, as long as we have the right mentality, coupled with long-term accumulation and hard work, we will definitely be able to achieve our expected goals.
